a couple of christmas cookies

tomorrow is christmas eve, it’s practically here! earlier this week i got down to baking my two favorite christmas cookies - peanut butter hershey kiss and chocolate crinkles. i had planned on baking them last weekend, but never got around to it. the plan was to bring some in for the potluck at work on wednesday, so i made both on tuesday night! i was up until 11, which is way past my bedtime. but they came out great, so i’d say it was worth it.

baking these cookies always bring back the best memories from when i was a kid. i thought a lot about how long just these two batches took me, and immediately felt so impressed that my mom made these every year, along with sugar cookies to decorate, and usually one or two other kinds. how the heck did she do that? she worked full-time and was a mom full-time too! all i could think was, how am i going to keep up with this when i have kids? can’t wrap my brain around that one, so we’ll put it on the back-burner for a while.

cian was working tuesday night (shocker, i know), so i blasted the christmas music and got right to work, knowing they would take a while. although i admit that i was pretty wiped out from all the baking, i really enjoyed it. if baking christmas cookies doesn’t help get you in the christmas spirit, then i don’t know what will!

wishing everyone a very joyous holiday and a happy new year!
