a brunch spot in eastie

last sunday, i took petey out for his usual morning at hastings square park to play with his friends. it was a beautiful start to the day, the sun shining and for the first time in a long time, i couldn't see my breath! there's a new pup in the neighborhood, and he's the sweetest golden retriever named arlow. him and petey are becoming fast friends, and it's so fun to watch them bounce around together!

i reached into my pocket to check the time on my phone when i saw a text from my friend haleigh asking if i wanted to go to brunch with her at cunard tavern. a few weeks back, one of my favorite instagram accounts @bostonfoodies posted a picture of her brunch there and it immediately caught my eye. i am a huge brunch fan - it's one of my favorite things ever - so i messaged that post to haleigh that day. so, when she texted me, i was so excited and told her that i'd meet her when petey was done with his morning play.

i got back to my apartment, put food in the dog bowl, tidied up a few things, and headed to the t towards east boston. a huge perk to this restaurant is that it's a 2 minute walk from the maverick stop off of the blue line. it was such a breeze meeting haleigh there!

right from the minute i walked through their door, i was in love. they have the cutest decorations and atmosphere, which is another major draw for me when picking and going to a restaurant. it's actually a must! cunard tavern did not disappoint. we both ordered a mimosa, and i also got a hot black coffee. the mimosa was super refreshing, definitely made with fresh orange juice. i usually steer clear of sugary drinks, so i was very pleased that it was so fresh and yummy.

not only do i love breakfast food in general, my all time favorite is eggs benedict. this one, called the boston benedict, had the standard poached eggs and smoked ham on english muffins, as well as it's own flare: shredded swiss cheese, molasses baked beans, chopped scallions and chipotle hollandaise sauce. i ordered mine without the ham, and it was definitely a very different take on benedict, but incredibly yummy!

everything on their menu sounded so good - i definitely want to go back for more and try something new! so if you're living in eastie, or boston, or simply in town for a visit, i recommend checking this spot out.

haleigh and i headed off to target after to pick out some new rugs (this one and this one) for my apartment to replace the ruined ones from the broken pipes. as usual, i bought a lot more than just rugs, and we headed back to my place to get ready for the pats game!

sundays are by far the best day of the week. anyone else agree?
